More of a Mash - Up than a Montessori

I have been homeschooling for over 18 weeks now so still a newbie, but I realised early on that pure Montessori method was going to be too difficult for me to keep up to. I am sure that this is not the case for many but for me it was too much. I have nothing against the method in fact I think that it is an excellent pedagogy its just that there was so much preparation required, making 3 part cards, making up trays and nomenclature cards. It might be worth mentioning here that I have Fibromyaligia and ME, which have a significant impact on my energy levels. As such even though I really liked Montessori and it seemed to be working for my boy, I decided that I needed to incorporate another approach into our homeschooling. I had always liked the Charlotte Mason philosophy to learning so I investigated it further and found it to be a perfect fit for us. I have been using both methods now for over 10 weeks and it seems to be going well, I deliver language, maths and Geography from Montessori using Karen Tylers albums and I use Charlotte Mason for literature, history and Nature Journalling.
